100 ideas from wish jar

I became a big fan of Keri Smith pretty immediately after proofreading one of her books. Her drawings and advice on creativity manage to be inspiring without falling into the cheeseball or cliche territories. Maybe it’s the simplicity of the art and layout of her journals (Wreck This Journal is one. How to Be an Explorer of the World is another). Maybe it’s the sparse yet lyrical way she writes, carefully choosing her words for maximum impact. Whatever the recipe, I’m sold, especially when she makes spot-on lists like her 100 Ideas list (the PDF version is easier to read and hang on your wall) and the spot-on (and apparently controversial) How To Feel Miserable as an Artist.

I can’t recommend her stuff highly enough. Lovely in its simplicity and perfectly motivating.
